Photographer Ryan Richardson suggests a few items that should be on your last-minute wedding checklist.

There comes a point in wedding planning where your lingering dreams about showing up to school naked for an exam you haven’t studied for finally get replaced with nightmares about showing up to your wedding naked for an exam you haven’t studied for. Your favorite Boston wedding photographer wants to help you avoid some of these anxieties, so I’ve come up with a last-minute checklist for your wedding planning to help you manage the last few days before you say “I do.”

Check in with Vendors: Experienced, professional vendors are great resources for calming your nerves. Schedule a call with each of your major vendors shortly before the event to double check the timeline and see if there’s anything that needs to get done.

Travel Arrangements: If you’re going on your honeymoon right away, pack early and double check that all your travel documents and itineraries are in order. If you’re staying overnight in a hotel after the reception, check with their front desk about storing your baggage prior to check-in (or even if there’s a way to reserve early check-in) so there’s less to manage when you’re exhausted after a long wedding day.

Staging: Check with your venue for the ceremony and reception to see if they can hold items for a few days beforehand. If they can’t make sure either your coordinator or a trusted friend/family member is in charge of the items and can make sure they’re on hand in time to get set up.

Synchronize Contacts: If you’re working with a wedding coordinator, make sure that they have contact information for all of your vendors and that your vendors know she’ll be your point person on the big day. If you don’t have a coordinator, try to designate someone as a point person to direct vendors once they’re on site.

Eat: On your wedding day you’re going to get pulled in a million directions and you can go for a long time without getting a bite or having a drink. So make sure to have a nice breakfast and stay hydrated.

Assemble an Emergency Kit: Chances are you won’t need a sewing kit or super glue, but a well stocked emergency kit can prevent an unexpected wedding disaster and make you feel like MacGuyver when you come up with a clever solution using just some fashion tape and hair ties. While a few items can fit into a clutch, it doesn’t hurt to keep more supplies (extra hair spray, make up for touch ups, and bulkier items) in a bag that’s always close by.

What are some things that you’re doing ahead of your Boston wedding day to make things run more smoothly? Booking Ryan Richardson Photography i sa great first step.
