Sudbury Wedding - Longfellow Wayside Inn, August 2015

Summer storms rolled in across the lawns of the Longfellow Wayside Inn in Sudbury MA as the bride, Ryan, was getting ready in her room. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding ceremony in only a few short hours and weather reports were still trying to decide if the booming thunder and torrents of rain would pass quickly or linger.

It held as we crowded with the bride's family in the narrow halls of the historic in just north and west of Boston. As waitstaff, guests and housemaids whirled around us we managed to slowly work through the formals as the rain pattered against the gravel drive. Such are the risks of an outdoor wedding in New England and as the rain came down, the bride and her father stopped in the old bar, hung with antique pewter tankards for a drink while they waited for the weather to turn.

The clouds were borne away on the wind shortly after and the unstoppable staff of Sudbury's Longfellow Wayside Inn immediately started wiping down chairs and making sure the garden was just as beautiful as the couple that was about to be wed there. The groom arrived almost perfectly in time with the change in weather, so we could take photographers with his family against a charming pond surrounded by willows and cattails, a perfect bucolic image.

The garden was in full bloom for the Massachusetts wedding, flowers lending a vibrant slash of color along the aisle amidst the vibrant green of the late summer. As Forrest stood at the head of the aisle under the gaze of the poet's bust, his bride arrived after a short journey in a horse and carriage escorted by her father and a flower girl that just didn't want to leave her side. She gracefully floated down the aisle to the tune of 'Here Comes the Sun' played on the acoustic guitar by a guitarist from the wedding band The Common Ground, and nothing could have been more perfect for a beautiful summer day outside of Boston where the smell of rain and thunder still lingered on the air.

The couple joined their lives together in simple, emotional ceremony (with a lot more laughter than crying).

After the wedding, the couple left in the horse and carriage to take bridal pictures at the historic stone grist mill in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The beautiful day brought out several other couples an a quinciniera party, but Ryan and Forrest were almost in a bubble as we walked the grounds to create some beautiful images in a calm moment on their wedding day.

The reception was tented with music provided by Boston Wedding Band the Common Ground, who kept the party going and the dance floor full well into the evening.
